Mountain Area Realty is a family-operated firm founded in 1996 by Bo Newell and Nancy Hernandez. Since our firm’s inception, we have expanded to 16 AGENTS specializing in Nelson County, Western Albemarle County, Wintergreen Resort and Stoney Creek at Wintergreen. In June of 2007, Mountain Area Realty opened an office in Crozet, completely devoted to the vibrant Western Albemarle and Charlottesville real estate markets. Together with our main office in Nellysford, we’ve got this magnificent area covered!

However, at Mountain Area Realty we are interested in more than just selling real estate. Our agents are committed to giving back to our community as well. Each year we sponsor the hospitality tent at the Nelson County Summer Festival held at Oak Ridge Estate. This event raises funds for Nelson County High School scholarships and promotes area tourism. We proudly support the Wintergreen Nature Foundation and the Wintergreen Performing Arts, both organizations that benefit Wintergreen, Stoney Creek, and the surrounding communities in many ways. We also sponsor different youth league sports teams in the area.

We actively work with the Nelson County Humane Society / SPCA and have been very successful raising money for their “Almost Home” Pet Adoption Center building fund. Every two years we sponsor and help coordinate the Animal House Ball — a formal dinner, dance and auction that helps raise the much-needed funds for the operation of this “no-kill” shelter, now located just North of Lovingston.
